libxml-2.0 - Xubuntu 12.04.2

Hi.
I am trying to compile snes9x-gtk from source but I can't figure out how to get libxml-2.0, I have libxml2 installed but that doesn't seem to fix the problem with the configure script.
I have built the unix version but I don't get any sound from it, so I would like to try out the gtk version.

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables LIBXML_CFLAGS
and LIBXML_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
