Wii remote will not connect to snes9x ex+ emulator

Hi all

I have a wii remote that I would like to connect to the Snes 9X EX+ emulator on my 4th gen ipad.

I have turned off native iPad Bluetooth.

I have installed new batteries into the wii remote.

When I go to scan for wii motes under settings it gets the blue strip below and says starting scan, then connecting to 1 device(s).... Then it says cannot connect to device or it says wiimote 1 disconnected or it says unable to open Bluetooth connection.

I'm hoping someone has a solution to this for me...

Only thing I could think of would be an OS restriction... what version of iOS are you using?

I am using version 6.0.1 trying to play Zelda a link to the past!!!
