Stuck on the 'the end' screen on super mario world..

How do you load the game and continue with out the save states? I still have a few more levels to finish after beating bowser..

You mean use the in-game saves? You either save:

* after clearing a castle (#1-7) or fortress for the first time
* after clearing a ghost house (any time)

It should also save after beating Bowser. Just reset the game.

Actually, you're supposed to shut the game off after beating Bowser; that way if you want you can face Bowser again if you wish. It does save after you beat him, but the game doesn't indicate that you've beaten him previously or anything, if that's what you're wondering.
