Vanishing save data

1.53's save states work perfectly fine...until any time the program and its folder are closed and re-opened. I can save SRAM or save state data until I'm blue in the face but the nine slots will all be empty the next time I boot the thing up.

I know my saves aren't just going into the ether. I can see both the SRAM and save state data on my desktop where I saved them so I know that *something* was saved; the emulator just won't bring them up when I press load. It just says "Snapshot does not exist."

what os? what is the exact path to snes9x and the save dir? assuming the save dir is in fact your desktop, what is the OS path and what path is defined in snes9x?

it seems to me you might be getting fouled up by some OS-level path virtualization.

My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium. I don't know about either path, and I'm not sure what to do to find out.

Save yourself a ton of headaches and don't run programs off the desktop. I'd recommend making a directory in c:\ and storing your emulators in separate subdirectories there (e.g, c:\emulators\snes9x). If you do that, the default save locations will work just fine (which for snes9x is I believe is .\save). Once you've run snes9x once, copy your existing sram and save state files into that autogenerated save dir and you'll be good to go.
