Saves will not work right

I was playing FF 3 played it for days and saving every chance i got in game, Recently I found that there was a new version out 1.53 i was using 1.52. I then downloaded and unzipped and moved my save files to the new emulator only to find they dont work. I tried to put them back on the old emulator and they now wont work on that one. I am using the same game, same save in the same place it was before and i cant get it to work at all. and i was just on the floating contenent. can anyone help me figure this out? I even tried going to settings and resetting the save location to exactly where it is and still not working
