Problem with Madden 96

I can't get this game to load up at all. Currently using snes9x 1.53 on windows XP. Do I just have a bad rom(s) or is it a problem with the emulator? Thanks in advance.
Edit: I just wanted to add I have tried several Roms of this game on snes9x and bsnes. I finally got it to run on znes, but I would rather not use znes if possible
