SNES 9x EX on LG Optimus V

Hello, so I've downloaded SNES 9x from the android market on my LG optimus v. Now I understand that the LG optimus is not all rocket fuel and lasers but it seems like a super nintendo game, even with the nature of emulation shouldn't choke a phone that pushes full 3d. It's running very slow...all of the roms. Some unplayable like Kirby Allstars.
My question is - what can I do, if anything, to improve performance? A lot of the solutions I read about seem to be assuming I'm using the emulator on a PC and I'm being asked to change settings that don't exist. For example, setting how many frames this thing skips is not really an option. My options are 'Auto' and '0'. That's it. If I set to zero then it doesn't skip any frames but runs in crazy slow slow motion. When it's skipping frames you'd better hope the game doesn't require you to see a texture that's flickering in the original game (the crosshair in PacMan 2). Some games skip so many frames that it makes me disoriented and unable to play, like side scrollers even thought those things would kind of suck on the tiny little touch screen no matter how fast it ran.
Application works great for turn based RPGs but I'd like so more versatility. Is it possible to improve the performance or do I need a devide by zero model smart phone?
p.s My writing often comes off as bitchy. I don't mean it. The application is workig for some games and I don't plan on using another emulator besides this one. I'm just hoping I can get more out of it.
