so some reason i cant jump high enough to reach anything or get out of the water in donkey kong country 2 and 3. and sometimes 1

i have command as my jump button and option as my run button
i've tried doing running jumps and everything to reach ledges or get out of the water but i cant seem to figure out why i am jumping so low

can i change the settings or something to fix this?

im running snes9x 1.53 on a snow leopard mac

Go to Input -> Hotkey Configuration and check what key is bound to 'show pressed keys'. Hit that while in-game so you can see how SNES9x is seeing your keypresses.

Now, go back into Donkey Kong Country 2 (or 3, whatever), hop in the water and try to jump out. Make sure to hold the jump button for a while. Keep a careful eye on the display of your keypresses. If the display for the jump button is flickering at all or going out, there's your problem right there - your keyboard sucks, and you need to remap your keys or get a controller.

If you don't see any issues with that, well... try remapping the keys anyways.
