Save State/ Load State Problem

Post by kelvin »

Please Help,

I have an iphone 3GS that i jail-broke a few days ago. installed snes9x ex and was happily playing Earthbound without a problem i could save and load at will. unfortunately (for reasons i wont get into) i was forced to restore my IPhone to default settings. so after re-jailbreaking it, and downloading snes9x ex and earthbound, i am unable to save my game. i have been racking my brain trying to figure out why. i even restored and jailbroke my phone for a 3rd time in hopes that it would resolve...but NO!!!! when i try to choose what bank to save it in all the numbers are grayed out. And even if i do hit "save state" load state remains grayed out. i also tried saving the game, in game. but nothing stays.

Please Help. I will try anything.

Check that the "mobile" user account is the owner and has write permission to the directory the game is in. If you created it while logged in as "root" then it won't. You'll need to issue the command "chown mobile X/" where X is the directory the game is in.

0_0 you just blew my mind. I think i know what you're talking about....but i was logged in as root the first time i installed the rom into my ssh and was able to save and load. maybe i just have no idea what you're talking about and you're totally right. could you explain in futher detail? Where do i type in chown mobile X? and how do i log in as anything but root. i followed the instructions on how to install rom into ssh off youtube. so i dont know much else other than what the video told me.

Thank you for trying to help. Anymore info you can give me would be a big help.

Hmm, I do have some code in the app that fixes permissions automatically for you but I think it broke in a previous update. Just fixed the issue and it should work again in the upcoming 1.3.29.

As for fixing it manually, you need to know what directory the tutorial you followed had you copy to ROMs in. Login to the device as root over SSH and issue the chown command as listed in my last post.
