Screen flashes during the entire gameplay
used latest SNES9x Test Build 05.05.2011 on Windows 7

I'm having the same problem. The game works fine until you enter into the mini games, which is when the screen starts flickering wildly. I have tried downloading multiple versions of the ROM, to no avail. I even tried European, German, and Japanese versions all having the same problem.
Has anyone else had this problem/found a solution?
Here is what I am running:
Macbook: 2GHz processor, and 2 gigs of RAM
Snes9x: 1.53
OSX: 10.8.5
