SNES9X Freeze State Issue (1.53)

Hey Everyone! 
So I used to play SNES9X back a while back ago. Recently I reinstalled it and re downloaded some old favorite games! However I'm having trouble using the frz's in my games. Anytime I freeze a game it works!, but when I go to unfreeze it, it says "File not in Snes9x snapshot format." I've looked everywhere but can't seem to find a solution.
The formats they are in look like "Chrono Trigger.000.frz" or "Super Mario World.001.frz"
Any ideas?
