snes9x-gtk missing input display option in GUI under Linux

Hello,
I noticed that snes9x-gtk for Linux (at least v1.56 and v1.57) is missing a configuration option to enable the onscreen input display. I cannot find an option anywhere in the GUI to turn this on under Linux. I know this exists on the Windows release.
Additionally if I launch snes9x-gtk using the launch flag "-displaykeypress" the input display is present.
I've not identified any other bugs with the input display, other than the fact that the option to toggle it on/off is not available in the GUI config options.
I'm running under Fedora 29 if that matters at all.
