Snes9x is not responding!!!!

please help, every time i run the program it says its not responding and has to be shutdown, please help!!!!
more details, less exclamation points.
- what version of Windows?
- where is snes9x located?
- are you running it from within the download archive, or did you extract it?
- did you download snes9x from a reputable source (i.e. this website or OV2's testbuilds site)?
