Snes9x directx windows 10 error message

Hi, I tried using snes9x 1.59.2 portable on windows 10, but when I open it it gives an error message that says "Unable to initialize XAudioZ. You will not be able to hear any sound effects or music while playing. This is usually caused by not having a recent DirectXQ runtime installed. You can download the most recent DirectXQ runfime here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... aspx?id=35", even though according to dxdiag it says I already have directx 12 installed on my computer, so how can I get snes9x to work properly? Thanks.

It tells you what to do. Read the directions.

It says to install directx 9, but I already have directx 12 installed. Isn't snes9x designed to be able to run with the latest version of directx?

Also, if I install directx 9, that'll replace directx 12 won't it?

DirectX 9 is independent of DirectX12. S9x uses d3d9 and the xaudio2 part of dx9, so you need to install the dx9 runtime for it to work. It will not replace your dx12 runtime.

got it. i'd suggest a sticky at the top of this board pointing to it; extra visibility will only help with fleshing out the pages for common issues.

Another issue with the .CHT files is they're often loaded incorrectly and I get the result in the attached file, resulting in the cheats no longer working.
