Terrible sound skipping on Snes9X EX on a gen2 iPod Touch
Terrible sound skipping on Snes9X EX on a gen2 iPod Touch
Hey folks, I'm running snes9x 1.4.16 on my gen 2 iPod. It's not cutting edge tech, but it works just fine for most things. I've been using this emulator for some time now, and I've just reached a point of frustration with the sound.
The sound will often skip every other half second. It is akin to sound lag, if that makes sense. Like The audio is on some kinda frame skip. It's a really jarring experience. I've attempted to adjust settings to find SOME kind of fix to no success. I'm not sure how to fix this with my limited options.
Thanks!

Re: Terrible sound skipping
Why would you use 1.4.16? That's way obsolete.
Re: Terrible sound skipping
Because that was the most current version when I downloaded it.
Re: Terrible sound skipping
Okay, on the chance that a newer version of snes9x would solve the problem, I updated it. Sadly, no dice. Even after playing with the new audio settings, it's still very laggy in the sound.
Re: Terrible sound skipping
I'd really like some help taking this issue on. Or at least understanding what the problem is. I'm willing to present more information about the hardware or set up if that's what is needed, but someone needs to step up to help.

Re: Terrible sound skipping
Changing the buffer size in the sound settings to 128 or 160 ms/milliseconds will help and the audio driver to XAudio2 will help if you're Windows 7

download a more updated version from here: http://www.s9x-w32.de/dl/testbuilds/Firia wrote:Because that was the most current version when I downloaded it.

...there are only Windows builds there.MELERIX wrote:download a more updated version from here: http://www.s9x-w32.de/dl/testbuilds/Firia wrote:Because that was the most current version when I downloaded it.
Re: Terrible sound skipping
I'd like to reiterate: I'm using an iPod 2nd gen, and the latest version of snes9x ex. Windows versions aren't going to do me any good. (I'd edit In that info to the OP but the opium to edit that post is gone.)

Does no one have any fixes/solutions? I'd even like to know what the cause is.
Re: Terrible sound skipping on Snes9X EX on a gen2 iPod Touc
it's entirely possible that the hardware just isn't up to the task.

That had crossed my mind. But dang, I gotta figure an ipod touch has more power than an SNES [emulator] really needs. But I accept that hardware could be the case.odditude wrote:it's entirely possible that the hardware just isn't up to the task.
Also, "she."
