Save slot 10 not exposed through File menu

Post by odditude »

File -> Load Game Position and File -> Save Game Position only list slots #1 through #9; #10 is not listed nor accessible.

Also, there's inconsistency between the listings in those menus and the config dialog "Customize Hotkeys...", which lists slots 0 through 9. Slot #1 in "Save Game Position" corresponds to slot0 in "Customize Hotkeys...", and (due to the reported bug) there's no entry in "Save Game Position" for "Customize Hotkeys..." slot9.

Issue exists in 1.53 for windows (32- and 64-bit builds); may also exist on other platforms depending how global the GUI code is.

I've added slot 0 to the menus and shifted the meaning up by one, so it's now consistent with the hotkeys.

thanks for the fix; that's the most logical correction.

however, the next release needs to highlight this in big, bold letters, otherwise people who've been using the file menu to save/load states might unintentionally clobber some of their old states due to name reassignment. i can picture this being a heartbreaking data loss issue.

possible solution - on first run, pop a dialog saying that behavior has changed?
