Slowdown Super Mario World 2
Hi!
Play Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island and saw slowing. For example Chapter 3 Level 1 with monkeys. (snes9x 32)
On the emulator SnesGT no slowdowns.
Is this a bug?
thanks

Re: Slowdown Super Mario World 2
could you provide NSRT info of the ROM you were using (or perhaps the CRC32 number)?
In addition, what version of Snes9X are you using? (posting if it's 32 or 64 bits without a version number doesn't help..)

Unofficial Test Monkey For:
* Snes9X GX (Wii)
* Snes9X EX (Android)
* Snes9X 64-bits (PC/Mac)

Re: Slowdown Super Mario World 2
That slowdown is happening because of the monkeys swinging across the trees behind Yoshi and the monkey spitting seeds at Yoshi. Whats weird it does not happen in the ZSNES version.MarioSuper wrote:Hi!

Must be some slowdown problem, The slowdown happens in both 32 & 64 bit versions of Snes9x 1.53.

Re: Slowdown Super Mario World 2
This is probably in part to the inefficient Super FX emulation core that Snes9x currently has. MarioSuper, what hardware specifications do you have on your computer? (CPU, RAM, OS, etc.)

What operating system are you using? 32 or 64bit? Version of Snes9x? Is the text at the bottom of the window white when you load the game?
These suggestions are usually the solution to your issue!

So it has something to do with the Super FX emulation.Camo_Yoshi wrote:This is probably in part to the inefficient Super FX emulation core that Snes9x currently has. MarioSuper, what hardware specifications do you have on your computer? (CPU, RAM, OS, etc.)
No way to fix it?.

To get this clear, are you also involved with the Snes9x?.ATM, no. We're working on it though...
So far Snes9x is one of the best Snes emulators, just with some small problems.

I am not directly involved with development, but I can typically fix common problems that people encounter and such.

Really?. if so what will it take to fix those slowdown problems.Camo_Yoshi wrote:I am not directly involved with development, but I can typically fix common problems that people encounter and such.
Re: Slowdown Super Mario World 2
it'll take two things.rockyfrog wrote:Really?. if so what will it take to fix those slowdown problems.Camo_Yoshi wrote:I am not directly involved with development, but I can typically fix common problems that people encounter and such.
first, it'll take the developers spending their personal time (outside of job, family, and the like) to refine the emulation core.
second, it'll take some patience from the end users - if it were a trivial issue, it would've already been fixed (or you would've fixed it yourself and shared the code with the community).
Re: Slowdown Super Mario World 2
I'm happy the makers fix problems with Snes9x.
Sadly ZSNES will never be updated anytime soon and 30% of games on ZSNES are glitchy or don't work.
