Hey what's up guys, I was just wondering if you could help me fix this problem. I was given this American SNES Model No. SNS-001, DC 10V 850mA, with its original AC adapter No. SNS-002.

The thing is that it won't work no matter what I try, it isn't the cartridge because I tried several ones and even without one I get the same, reset button seems to have no effect, neither the cables cause I tried the RF modulator in both channels 3 and 4 and the A/V composite cable with same result, I already measured the AC adapter with a Voltmeter and it outputs 10.83volts DC, it isn't the TV bcause I tried both CRT and LCD panel with same result :(.

What do you think it could be or I could get done to get back this little jewel in a working state? Any help is really appreciated. Thanks.

Hate to say it, but it looks to me like there has been a failure in one of the components in the SNES. I doubt it will be fixable without spending more than it is worth.

Experienced enough to know that what is being displayed on your TV by your SNES is the kind of thing that would be displayed by failed electronics.

I mean, I could be wrong, it is possible, but I don't think I am. The only other suggestion I could make would be to see if you can find a SNES contact cleaning kit and clean the cart slot connector and make sure the carts themselves are clean, and try again. But I honestly doubt that will fix the issue.

Hey, what's up guys?. As I couldn't find useful help over the internet I decided to take the situation in my very own hands. What I did first was to isolate the problem and begin with the AC/DC adapter. While the measures with the voltmeter were successful the ones with oscilloscope were not. In fact I was getting an AC signal mounted over a DC with a minimum voltage of 1.22 volts and a 120Hz freq. which was causing the internal snes regulator not to work properly. Fortunately, this was caused by an open circuit track right in the capacitor. The filtering phase of the adapter wasn't working and it was easy fixed just by resoldering it to the track. I guess all this years of gaming have had their effect. Luckily for me, the snes is in perfect conditions :).

Thanks for all your support and help.
