can't save games on my wii
can't save games on my wii
Whenever I try to save something pops up and says "Error opening SD:/snes9xgx/saves". Does anyone know what's wrong? The way I have the SD card set up is
apps:
snes9xgx:
then inside of that is boot.dol, icon.png, meta.xml, readme.txt, roms (with my two roms inside), and saves.
Is it set up right or is something else wrong?
i can play the games fine, and they looks amazing, but when it comes time to save it i get the error i mentioned above. i can't stress enough how much i love what the developers have done with this, it's really, really cool. it's just kind of obnoxious when i try to save it and it doesn't let me. i've tried changing the name of the saves folder to "/SNES9xGX/saves/" and a few other variations, but no matter what, i get the same error.
any help would be greatly appreciated, and again, thank you so much for what you guys do here, i love you for it<3

Mods, this should also go in tech support. As for the issue, I had no idea it could even work with memory cards, but camera memory cards seem like a very bizarre media for this sort of thing. Would you maybe consider flash drives? That just seems better on many levels, but then again, I don't know what kind of setup you've got.

The wii doesn't support Flash Drives.

Huh... I thought Wiis supported external hard drives in general
In any case, moved to tech support.

If the app is case sensitive, then having it spelled different than in the config is problematic.
The only thing I can think of is that the path may need a trailing slash... or that the syntax for the path is totally wrong. What you need to do may involve finding a person with a sample working path so you can copy it properly.

this should be a sticky, because nobody mentioned this above, but it's absolutely vital to it working. i can't believe this isn't mentioned anywhere. once inside the emulator, you need to go to settings. change the save folder name to "apps/snes9xgx/saves"
i was only making it "snes9xgx/saves"
on your sd card, it only needs to be named "saves" so the root of this problem lies in the emulator settings.

no hosebeast, this doesnt need to be a sticky, because you are just a retard.
as you posted yourself the app couldnt read "Error opening SD:/snes9xgx/saves".
You moron didnt create a folder on the SD Card called snes9xgx/saves .... the apps folder has nothing to do with it, thats where only the apps are being put.

Sir yes sir!Ryan wrote:While not a troll, that was definitely an uncalled for flame.
It's really simple folks, if someone's post or inability to do something makes you that angry, then don't post. Being an inflammatory a-hole does not help, and is not acceptable.
Consider this your warning.

Thanks Hosebeast
I made an account just to say THANK YOU. I had this same problem and had been searching for hours trying to find a solution. Everyone kept bringing up the same solutions but they did not help me at all. THIS is exactly what worked for me (no idea why some dude tried to flame you for it).hosebeast wrote:GOT IT!

Thanks again. Problem solved.
