I am a noob to the forums, here, (obviously,

Firstly I have a question about shaders and image enhancing. Up until the release of 1.53 I had always set the options under Video -> Display Configuration -> Output Image Processing to hq4x and have always been pleasantly surprised with the results. When 1.53 came out I saw in the release notes that it would now support shaders with a .cg extension (assuming you had the necessary dlls to go with them) so I decided to check them out. At first try I selected the hq2x shader and didn't notice a difference. I tried the shader both a GL shader and as a D3D shader. Noticed no difference. Then I thought maybe turning of the hq4x options would make a difference. Only then did a see what the shader could do and thus here is where I ran into an issue and now have a question.
When I use the hq2x shader it makes the game one way. When I use the regular options to set the game to hq2x it looks another way. When I enable both the shader is overridden by the menu options. Honestly though either way the shader doesn't look right nor as good as the regular menu options. Why is this?
Next question is why is there a regular option to select hq4x and a Hi Res option to select hq4x? Is the latter option for games that support Hi Res?
