Using Snes9x on my PS3, loading a state crashes games

i run the snes9x 2010 version 1.52.4 core through retroarch on my ps3 and every game i play crashes when i try to load a state. Donkey Kong Country crashes sound and freezes and Megaman X crashes the sound and is playable up until the boss. is this fixable?
