This solved my audio problems.
Problem: How do I solve this error? (Device: /dev/dsp)...failed I am using "snes9x-1.53-gtk-81-x86_64" on Debian?
Solution:
While the game is playing, go Options -> Preferences... -> Sound and change the current driver back to "ALSA".
