It's not just super Mario World other games are doing this also. Down, and Left are not working correctly !!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Super Mario World (USA) Bug Issues
I have been playing Super Mario World USA. Running it on Mac OSX Yosemite. I ran the game with no problems at all. The characters will walk the opposite direction but it's really slow. And the characters will crouch quickly and repeat itself. How do I fix this problem? Much help is well appreciated....
