Redownloading seems to have done the trick, although I'm not quite sure why. Thanks for your help, all. In addition, are MD5's posted anywhere for me to check so I can avoid this problem in the future?

It appears the HQ3X and HQ4X plugins are suffering from the new kernel-level Address Space Layout Randomization that was introduced in Mountain Lion. I'm not sure if Snes9x maintains their own branch of these plugins or it they depend on development from the hqx project, but if it's the latter, we m...
