Snes9x.COM: News

For webmasters who put a copy of Snes9x on their page
I've been noticing that more and more emu-sites are putting Snes9x locally on their page, there is nothing wrong with that, but I request that all webmaster who do this must provide a link to this website. Snes9x's website (and development/hardware) is funded by the money which the banners on this site generate. So please, put a link to this site near the Snes9x archive link. This way you are supporting the future of Snes9x.

Updated the Windows port
The windows port has been updated to use the new v1.19a core, it also has several bug fixes and the sound should now 'sound' better... If you experience any bugs while using this version, post as much details about the bug onto the BBS. Please note that this version does not contain ANY 3dfx support !

Email accounts
I just wanted to note that most of the email accounts on snes9x.com are not working, I will set them up again when I get the time.

A new host (again)

As you all can see Snes9x.COM has been relocated to another host, which will remain unnamed. As for the legal issues, I've read some nice articles about it and I've been emailed by someone who is going to take the bar soon, and he noted the following:

Emulator programs themselves probably will not violate
US copyright law as long as they were fully 'reverse
engineered' and the developer did not use any
copyright protected material in their development.

Well, unless I used some mistery 'copyright protected material' then Snes9x is perfectly legal, and unless I suffer from memory loss, I can conclude that I did not use such material... Think about it, if I(or Gary) had the official stuff, why would it take us 3 years to make the emulator... And even now it doesn't emulate the SNES perfectly...

As for the new server, it's still a virtual account, so I hope they can handle the load... And Nintendo, next time, try to email me! You never even contacted me, simply explain your problem, and maybe we can even work something out !

Looks like I'll be here for awhile longer.
As it turns out, I was able to convince my step-dad to let me stay as long as I get a full-time job. Unfortunately this will take time from my programming.
I've applied at a few places, and I have until the end of May before everything gets cut off.
Also, I wanted to thank all the people that sent me emails about this. It's nice to know there are people like yourselves that are as unselfish and caring as you have shown me. Thanks so much!
